Ephraim lies on Wisconsin 42 near the middle of the Door Peninsula's Green Bay shore. Most visitors drive through Sturgeon Bay, pass Egg Harbor and Fish Creek, then reach Eagle Harbor as the road bends along the village waterfront.
The airport is about 83 miles from Ephraim, normally a 1½-hour drive before stops. The route continues through Sturgeon Bay and up the Door Peninsula; compare rental-car hours with late flight arrivals.
Downtown Milwaukee is about 185 miles from Ephraim, roughly three hours by car in ordinary conditions. Allow more time for weekend traffic, construction, winter weather, and stops along Interstate 43.
Downtown Chicago is about 275 miles away. The drive commonly takes five to five-and-a-half hours before stops, and congestion around Chicago or Milwaukee can extend it substantially.
Sturgeon Bay is about 28 miles south of Ephraim, usually a 40- to 50-minute drive. It is the last larger service center before Wisconsin 42 continues through Egg Harbor and Fish Creek.
Wisconsin 42 carries the main approach through Sturgeon Bay, Egg Harbor, and Fish Creek before following Ephraim's waterfront. Slow down for village traffic, cyclists, pedestrians, and seasonal congestion.
A central lodging property can keep dinner and the harbor walk car-free, but practical access to Peninsula State Park, trailheads, beaches, and northern villages requires a car. Many waterfront stops use small public lots or on-street spaces.
Door Peninsula approaches
Green Bay provides the nearby commercial-airport approach used for this itinerary. Wisconsin 42 carries the main drive through Sturgeon Bay and the west-side Door County villages before curving along Eagle Harbor into Ephraim.
